The Installation Method of Trolley Wheel to Extend the Service Life

 

Trolley wheel is a kind of forged wheel, which is widely used in bridge cranes, gantry cranes and mining machinery. The wheel of a traveling vehicle is an accessory with good quality, strength and other properties, but it is also a component that is relatively easy to damage. According to the use characteristics of the traveling vehicle, the tread of the traveling vehicle is required to have a higher hardness, and a certain hardened layer depth and transition layer (depth>10mm, hardness HRC40–48) to improve the bearing capacity, wear resistance and contact fatigue resistance. At the same time, its matrix organization is required to have good comprehensive mechanical properties and good organizational state, and the hardness should reach HBS187~229, so that it has high toughness, improves impact resistance and crack resistance. However, in daily use, in addition to normal wear and tear, the wheels of the traveling vehicle often fail quickly due to improper installation, which is a mistake that should be avoided as much as possible.

 

Installation method of trolley wheel

 

After the trolley wheels are produced, they are often combined with shafts, bearings and bearing boxes to form a wheel set during installation, which is convenient for disassembly and maintenance.

 

The installation method is: the connecting bolts of the wheel shaft end coupling, the fastening bolts connecting the wheel set angle bearing box and the end beam, then pry the wheel set and pull it out along the track surface, then the new active wheel set can be hoisted to the crane track, push the wheel set close to the installation position, adjust the jack to slowly lower the car body, insert the fastening bolts, tighten the nuts, and ensure safety.

 

The specific sequence of the trolley wheel installation method is as follows:

 

(1) Remove the connecting bolts of the wheel shaft end coupling.

 

(2) Remove the fastening bolts connecting the wheel group angle bearing box and the end beam.

 

(3) Use the crane’s lifting screw or jack to lift the crane bridge frame so that the wheel tread is about 10 mm away from the top surface of the track, pry the wheel group and pull it out along the track surface for removal and replacement.

 

(4) Lift the pre-assembled, new running wheel driving wheel group with the shaft end gear coupling half to the crane track.

 

(5) Push the wheel group close to the installation position, adjust the jack to slowly lower the car body, insert the fastening bolts, tighten the nuts, and ensure safety.

 

(6) Tighten the horizontal bolts appropriately, and then tighten the vertical bolts accordingly, alternately. While tightening, turn the running wheel to check whether the wheel rotates flexibly, and check the horizontal and vertical deflection of the wheel installation.

 

(7) Align the screw holes of the gear coupling half at the wheel shaft end and the coupling half at the driven shaft of the reducer, insert the connecting bolts and tighten them.

 

(8) When everything is normal, drop the vehicle body.

 

The driving wheel at the other end is also replaced in the same steps. In order to ensure the transmission consistency at both ends and ensure the normal operation of the crane, the driving wheels at both ends must be replaced at the same time. In order to ensure the consistency of the mechanical transmission clearance at both ends, the gear coupling at the driven shaft end of the reducer is also replaced at the same time.
