Common Faults and Solutions of Large Wheels of Bridge Cranes
Bridge crane (commonly known as crane, overhead crane, hereinafter referred to as crane) is the main type of lifting equipment. It is widely used and is an indispensable equipment in the industrial production process. In Meishan Iron and Steel Hot Plate Factory, the crane is responsible for loading materials, winding, lifting, shipping and other important tasks, the quality of their operation is directly related to the safe production of the entire factory. As an important part of the crane, the large wheel is normal or not, which directly affects the operation of the entire crane. At present, the common faults of the large wheel of the crane in our factory mainly include rail gnawing, rolling bearing damage, and running tread peeling.
Rail gnawing
Driving for rail operation, when the normal exercise, the wheel forging rim and the track should maintain a certain gap, but in the actual operation of the car, due to various reasons, the gap between the wheel forging rim and the track becomes smaller, and even the mutual friction between the wheel rim and the track, this phenomenon is called “rail biting”. The process of determining the “rail gnawing” fault is as follows:
(1) Look: If the car gnaws the rail, the following phenomena can generally be seen: ① There is a bright trace on the side of the track. ② There are bright spots on the inside of the wheel rim, and the rim becomes thinner when it is serious, and the rim on the right of the big wheel is seriously worn, which is obviously much thinner than that on the left; ③When the crane is driving, the gap between the rim and the rail has a significant change in a short distance.
(2) Listen: If the car gnaws the rail, the sound of steel friction of “hissing” or “koh” can be heard during operation.
The reason for biting the track
(1) The installation of the wheel is not correct, which is easy to cause rail gnawing. When the wheel is installed, the steering problem causes the car to run in one direction, and the wheel gnaws on one side of the track; When it runs in reverse, it gnaws on the other side of the track.
(2) Due to manufacturing and wear, the diameter of the main and driven wheels are not the same, which is easy to cause the cart to tilt. And when the truck is running, under the same speed, the travel on both sides is different, which is easy to cause rail gnawing.
(3) The deformation of the bridge and foundation of the driving will cause the skew of the wheel position and the change of the span size, resulting in the running of the truck gnawing the rail.
(4) Rail gnawing caused by a large deviation in track installation. ① The tracks on both sides are not the same height, and the driving is prone to skew during the driving process, resulting in rail gnawing; ②When the same side of the track is installed, the straightness deviation is too large (that is, it is not on the same straight line), and the wheel is easy to gnaw the track when it transitions from one track to another.
The adjustment of the gnawing rail
Through the detection, if the straightness and verticality of the wheel can not meet the requirements, it is necessary to adjust it first. The specific adjustment methods are as follows:
(1) Calculate the amount of adjustment: when the center line of the wheel forging track center line is a certain Angle A, the deviation of the wheel tread is a rtana, where r is the radius of the wheel if the wheel is to be corrected, the center line of the wheel must be parallel to the center line of the track, and the copper sheet can be placed on the bearing seat.
(2) Padding to adjust straightness and perpendicularity. Due to the limitations of the wheel device and the concentricity requirements of both ends of the bearing, the padding thickness should not be too large.
These common faults of driving large wheels can be said to affect each other and are interrelated. Rail gnawing is easy to cause bearing damage, bearing damage is bound to lead to wheel gnawing rail, the same wheel tread peeling is also easy to cause wheel gnawing rail and bearing damage. Therefore, in the actual maintenance process, it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the wheel failure to avoid the phenomenon of failure omission.
Focusing on rail systems for more than 20 years, Glory Rail has very rich experience in wheel maintenance and replacement. Crane rails and wheels are the basis of crane operation and are the most directly worn and consumed parts. We can customize wheels of various sizes according to your drawings. If you don’t have the exact wheel drawing, our engineers will propose a customized solution according to your usage.
