pulley block using precautions

What Are the Precautions When using the Pulley Block?

As one of the key components of crane, the performance directly affects the operating efficiency and service life of the entire crane system.

Strictly use the pulley according to its safe lifting capacity, and do not overload it. There should be a nameplate on the pulley and pulley block to indicate the size, type and performance of the pulley. The pulley should be selected according to the nameplate requirements for lifting. If the pulley does not indicate the safe lifting capacity, it can be estimated based on the pulley diameter, shaft thickness, and jacket wall thickness.

Manufacturing and Process

1. Material Selection

Choose wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant materials, such as steel, alloy steel or special coating materials, to ensure that the pulley is not damaged during long-term use.

2. Manufacturing Accuracy

The manufacturing accuracy of the pulley is high, especially the geometric dimensions, surface finish and running matching accuracy of the rim and flange, which directly affect the stability and safety of the crane operation.

3. Surface Treatment

Special treatment is performed on the pulley surface, such as heat treatment, plating or spraying, to enhance its wear resistance and corrosion resistance.

4. Assembly and commissioning

The assembly and commissioning process of the pulley needs to be strictly controlled to ensure that all parts fit well, the pulley can run smoothly, and achieve the service life and safety performance required by the design.

Before use, check the pulley‘s groove, axle, splint, hook or ring and other parts to see if there are cracks or damage. If the pulley or hook is deformed or cracked, or the shaft positioning device is not perfect, it should be strictly prohibited to use. When lifting or moving equipment, when the pulley is stressed, check the operation of the moving parts to see if there are any rope jams or rope wear. If there is any problem, adjust it immediately.

In places where the force direction changes greatly and in high-altitude operations, it is prohibited to use hook pulleys. Ring pulleys should be used to prevent unhooking. If conditions limit the use of hook pulleys, a closed locking device must be added to the hook.

During lifting, the pulley and wire rope must be properly matched. If the wheel groove is narrow and the wire rope is thick, the wheel rim will be squeezed and damaged by the wire rope, and the wire rope will be severely worn: if the wheel groove is too wide, the wire rope will be flattened after being stressed and easily damaged. Generally, the wheel groove width should be 1 to 2.5 mm larger than the wire rope diameter.

When using the pulley block, it is strictly forbidden to use your hands to directly climb the moving wire rope. At the same time, in order to avoid the main wheel groove jam, check whether the traction direction of the wire rope and the position of the guide pulley are correct.
