Facing the blue Arabian Sea and backed by the hot desert, a green, and low-carbon “future city”–THE LINE is quietly rising in Saudi Arabia. As an important “skeleton” to build the city, the first batch of H-beam steel products of Masteel are traveling across the ocean and will be delivered to the project soon. Demonstrating brand strength in important international projects, Maanshan Iron and Steel blew a strong clarion call for H-beam products to seize the Middle East market.

In order to improve the direct supply ratio of projects and expand the international influence and application fields of Masteel’s hot-rolled H-beam projects, the marketing center aims at the vast hinterland of the Middle East market and takes the initiative to enter the local market through various channels. Thanks to the long-term brand image and accumulated good reputation in the international market, Maanshan Iron and Steel supplied 800 tons of H-beams to Saudi Arabia through the Hong Kong company on November 18 last year; since the end of last year, the supply has been stable for 4 consecutive months UAE market. Although it has initially gained a firm foothold in the Middle East market, Maanshan Iron and Steel’s Hbeam products still need a “masterpiece” to fully demonstrate its own strength.

In 2022, in the process of developing the northern market, we established a preliminary contact with a customer in Tianjin and continued to introduce and demonstrate the unique advantages of Masteel’s H-beam product quality, technology, and service to customers. In October last year, the customer gave us an opportunity, with Saudi THE LINE city project as a small incision, opened the door of cooperation between the two parties for the first time.” The person in charge of the profile department of the marketing center said that in the process of market development, they always insisted on a multi-pronged approach, and three-party direct supply is one of the important ways to expand.

The total weight of H-beam steel used in the project is about 25,000 tons. The profile department of the marketing center cooperated with the long product business department, the manufacturing department, and other units. After nearly two months of technical and business exchanges, the first batch of 580 tons of order contracts was finally signed at the end of November last year. The delivery date of the first batch of orders is urgent and needs to be shipped from the port. At the same time, the customer has strict requirements on surface quality, end quality, and performance, and needs to meet third-party inspection before delivery. It is necessary to ensure both speed and quality. The long product business department carefully organized production in January and controlled the product quality throughout the process. Before delivery, it successfully passed the third-party product inspection arranged by the customer and was sent them to Saudi Arabia successively after arriving at the port.

“Everyone is very happy to be able to participate in the construction of such a meaningful project. We will continue to conduct business negotiations around the project in the future, and strive to win larger product orders including heavy H-beams.” The person in charge of the Profile Department of the Marketing Center said they will make persistent efforts to seize the opportunities of international and domestic large-scale engineering projects and help Maanshan Iron and Steel become a leader in the global steel industry with high-quality and special long products.

Saudi Arabia’s “THE LINE” urban project plans to build a new linear city with a total length of nearly 170 kilometers, a width of only 200 meters, and a building height of more than 500 meters. The original 95% natural landscape distributes urban functions in vertical layers, allowing people to travel seamlessly in three-dimensional space (upward, downward, and horizontal), and can eventually accommodate about 9 million people to live. Through the full use of artificial intelligence and other technologies to truly realize the interaction between people and the city. The city will be free of cars and roads, with zero carbon emissions.
